February: Complete reversal month

Coming into February, I expected things to drop off a bit with the return to school. What I didn’t expect is that, at least in terms of my resolutions, everything would be almost precisely the opposite of January. Let’s take a look, shall we:

Get in 30 minutes of cardio three times a week, and some other sort of exercise two to three other times throughout the week

After the carnage that was my first week of exercise classes, things have dramatically improved. I’ve opted to go for zumba and spin only, since pilates infringes on a social activity and – let’s be honest here – those are all too rare for me. Even if I don’t necessarily feel like going to a class, it seems they always go by fairly quickly and I feel much better for the rest of the day.

To account for my school and work responsibilities, I think my goal for this month will just be to maintain this level. If I’m feeling particularly ambitious, I may try to work in a walk on my sabbath, but I’m going to keep that marked as optional.

Fill up one, if not both, of my new journals

Last month, I wrote a pretty decent amount in my journal. This month… not so much. In all fairness I haven’t had a whole lot of time to be reflective, so there hasn’t been much to fill up my journal (with the exception of some ridiculous gushing about the guy I’m now dating that I’m a little embarrassed to admit filled up several pages).

This month I’d like to find more time to be quiet and reflective – even if that doesn’t mean writing in my journal. I’m combatting the larger problem, rather than beating myself up over a symptom.

Eat 5 servings of fruits and veggies a day

Oh man, this was awful. I don’t even know how this happened, but I shrank back down to about 1 1/2 a day (where I started at the very beginning of January)until the very beginning of March, and for the last couple of days I’ve just barely been keeping it at about 2. Okay, okay. I may just try to maintain 2 a day for this month, since that’s still improvement over February.

Hang my clothes up the same day that I do laundry

Nope. I did do it the very last week of February, but admittedly that was only because someone was coming over. Clearly, the answer here is to make it so I have to show my room to someone else several times a month =P

Top off my wardrobe and then stop worrying about it

This I did work on, and picked up a nicer shirt and cardigan, as well as two pairs of jeans (I went down a size!). The majority of my clothing is still fairly dark, but I’m okay with this level until we get a bit further into spring.

Get my money’s worth out of my sewing machine (if possible)

I am definitely the most proud of this one. I ended up getting a free, extraordinarily large shirt, and after meaning to get around to trying out altering clothes for the last couple of months, this seemed like as good a time as any. The base of the shirt fits much better now, and works well as a workout shirt, though I still need to put the sleeves back on. Well, okay, I need to put the sleeves back on correctly; I put one back on and was happy to discover that it wasn’t hard – but unhappy to discover that I’d put it on upside down. This was about the time that I realized that I have no patience for seam ripping, so that sleeve is still half attached and sitting on my desk. Ah well, progress!
